If the gamer mode is turn on, scheduled activities, alerts and updates are temporarily deferred. Furthermore, most of the shields and all alerts are temporarily turned off when in gamer mode. Webroot will automatically slip back to normal mode after four hours so as to protect you from forgetting to switch back to strong computer defense.

Effective malware removal: One of the best assets of Webroot is its effective malware removal. The downside is the frequency of false alarms. Webroot was able to sweep all the malwares even just by a click of the containing folder. It was even able to remove data files and registry items of the malwares. Even the manually altered versions of the malwares were no match to the flexibility of Webroot.

Unreliable tech support: Even though Webroot offers free phone support, it may be of little use. We have found numerous complaints which indicate that their solution for most problems is to uninstall and reinstall each time, although the same problem shows up, as well as new ones. If you submit a support ticket, they usually send you five or six links that have nothing to do with the problem you may be having, and then close the case. When you update the question you may have to wait several days before they respond.

Serious resource hog during scan: Users have complained about their computers slowing down to a crawl during a scan process. Slowed websurfing: One of the measures of performance of an antivirus is the drag that it causes on internet surfing. The new Webroot was reported to cause a slow down on websurfing. This is a very big potential problem for webroot, since many users are spending a majority of their time on the internet.

Webroot Bottom Line:

This edition of Webroot’s antispyware solution is significantly better than the previous versions but there are a lot of other antivirus and antispyware products included in our reviews, that can and will do a better job in protecting your computer from attacks.  The degraded system performance after the installation of the software is one of the biggest problems of the new suite.
